Antares prices $850M private credit CLO, AAA at 145bp

The upsized Antares CLO 2026-4 shows new-issue private credit collateral still has liability buyers.

Creditflux reports that Antares priced its CLO 2026-4 on Thursday through Scotiabank, bringing an upsized $850 million private credit deal to market with triple-A paper clearing at SOFR plus 145 basis points; unlike the resets that have filled recent weeks, this was a fresh print whose portfolio had to be assembled and sold to investors before the notes could clear.

Recent weeks have been full of them—four managers repricing nearly $2 billion of US CLOs, KKR and Sculptor returning seasoned European collateral to market—trades that take a known portfolio and reprice its liabilities, whereas Antares had no existing trust to lean on.

The triple-A clearing at SOFR plus 145 anchors the funding stack—the cheapest layer against which everything above it prices—and for Antares, that number fixes the entire vehicle; for the rest of the direct lending market, it is a reference point for what fresh private credit collateral can still raise.

That the deal grew to $850 million on its way to pricing says it did not struggle to find a home, suggesting liability buyers still have appetite for private credit CLO paper at a moment when direct origination volumes have flattened—exactly when a funding valve proves useful.

When new supply is slack, the value of a direct lender is less about sourcing loans and more about carrying them, and a CLO provides the term-matched liabilities that separate a lender who can sit tight from one forced to sell to stay liquid.

As this publication has argued, the CLO reset wave is private credit's funding valve; managers that can fund a warehouse of loans through a CLO keep those loans on the books instead of selling into a thinner market, and this deal extends that valve to newly built collateral, not only seasoned trusts.

The managers to watch are those holding warehouses: if more new-issue CLOs follow, private credit turns the structure into standard funding infrastructure; if investors go cold, this week's pricing becomes the marker for how good conditions were.
