LSTA posts SLOO review, keeps it behind member wall

The trade group's second-quarter read on loan officer opinion is reserved for members.

The Loan Syndications and Trading Association posted its review of the second-quarter 2026 Senior Loan Officer Opinion survey on Aug. 5. Andrew Berlin, the association's vice president and director of policy research, is the named author. The page carries an access note: "Sorry but this content is only available to certain members."

That notice is the story. The LSTA positions the review as analysis and data, and it sits behind a member wall. For an industry that runs on information, the wall does two things: it rewards members with a curated read, and it reminds everyone else what they are not seeing. The gate is sharper than a typical trade-association perk because the subject is a survey built from senior loan officers' opinions.

The Aug. 5 release comes about five weeks after the quarter's end. That lag is normal, but it matters: the review lands after the quarter's data has had time to settle. Members get the LSTA's framing of the survey results; non-members get the existence of that framing.

Only certain members

What the review actually says stays with the membership. The public record contains the title, the date, the author, and the access restriction. For private-credit principals outside the LSTA, the release is a reminder that the association's interpretation of loan officer opinion is a subscription benefit, not market infrastructure. That is a narrow point, but it shapes how a widely watched survey's findings travel: through the members first, then through whatever they choose to repeat. Next quarter's review will likely follow the same pattern.
