Star Mountain Capital has appointed Daniel Lee as a managing director for investment origination and business development, Alternative Credit Investor reported on 14 October.

Lee joins from Comvest Capital Partners, where he was a partner and co-founder; Star Mountain said the direct lending platform grew to $12bn during his 14 years there.

Brett Hickey, Star Mountain's founder and chief executive, said Lee brings "extensive private credit experience, a strong network and a demonstrated ability to source and execute investments while helping build and scale investment platforms." Hickey added that Lee's experience and relationships should enhance origination as the firm provides capital solutions to established lower middle-market businesses.

Star Mountain manages $5bn across direct investments and secondaries. Lee said he would work to expand origination and build relationships with business owners and intermediaries.

Star Mountain in August closed its first collateralised fund obligation, a rated vehicle arranged with Evercore that gives insurers and institutions investment-grade exposure to US lower middle-market loans, according to PCD records.
