New Mountain reprices $178M rated feeder via Wells Fargo

The $178 million repricing shows rated feeders have become standard funding tools.

Creditflux first reported that Wells Fargo arranged the repricing of New Mountain's Guardian IV Rated Feeder I, a deal valued at just over $178 million. It lands amid a refinancing surge in private credit; PWD's tracking shows four managers pricing nearly $2 billion of U.S. CLO resets in the same period, a surge that has become managers' valve for lowering their cost of capital. A $178 million rated feeder repricing is a small part of it, but a telling one.

Rated feeders belong to a family of fund-level leverage structures institutionalizing into their own market, and New Mountain's repricing of a facility this size is the behavior of a manager treating that market as routine. The savings from repricing a credit this size are worth the effort only when execution costs are low — enough investors bidding, documentation standard enough to make the process mechanical.

Private credit managers now have a funding option that behaves like a bank line, refinanceable when conditions improve. For the banks that arrange these deals, that means a steady stream of repricing mandates lies ahead, one facility at a time, even at $178 million.
