  • Monroe Capital has launched an exchange-traded note tied to its lower middle-market direct lending strategy, opening the mandate to wealth managers, private banks and family offices through a single listed security.

  • The note is available now through PM Alpha with a minimum investment of $50,000 and $15,000 thereafter, and it is not offered in the US or to US persons, the firms said.

  • Because the note excludes US persons, its reach depends on EBW Capital's relationships with wealth managers in Latin America and the US offshore market.

Monroe Capital has launched an exchange-traded note tied to its lower middle-market direct lending strategy, opening the mandate to wealth managers, private banks and family offices through a single listed security. The note is denominated in US dollars, listed on the Vienna Stock Exchange and issued by PM Alpha Designated Activity Company, Alternative Credit Investor reported.

The note carries a daily price and a standard ISIN, so subscriptions, transfers and portfolio reporting follow the same process as any listed holding, Monroe said. That removes the subscription documents, capital calls and bespoke reporting that typically accompany private credit allocations.

The strategy behind the note invests primarily in senior secured loans to US lower middle-market companies and had previously been available to Monroe's institutional investors. "Working with PM Alpha and EBW Capital, we can deliver the same lower middle-market direct lending strategy our institutional investors have accessed for two decades, in a format that fits the way private banks and family offices already operate," said Zia Uddin, president of Monroe Capital.

PM Alpha, a digital private markets platform, supplied the structuring framework and platform technology, and EBW Capital will lead distribution across Latin America and the US offshore market through a network of wealth management institutions.

The note is available now through PM Alpha with a minimum investment of $50,000 and $15,000 thereafter, and it is not offered in the US or to US persons, the firms said.

The vehicle adds to a set of structures built to move private credit into wealth and insurance accounts. As this publication has reported, Moody's Ratings estimates 35% of US life insurance investments go toward private credit, and a NAIC review of rated note feeders is ongoing. Monroe's note targets a different buyer — non-US private banks and family offices — but it addresses the same administrative constraint: institutional credit exposure normally arrives in a format those buyers' back offices cannot process.

Because the note excludes US persons, its reach depends on EBW Capital's relationships with wealth managers in Latin America and the US offshore market.
