Add-on loans to existing borrowers were about 45% of its direct lending deployment in the first nine months, the quarterly update says.
At a glance
Tikehau returned €2.2 billion to investors in the first nine months, including €1.1 billion in the third quarter.
European CLO XVI, upsized to €450 million, was priced in early October, following an €80 million reset of Tikehau's sixth European CLO in the third quarter.
Add-on loans are priced and documented on terms set for the original credit, so the 45% slice grows without a fresh underwriting test.
Tikehau Capital deployed €943 million in credit in the third quarter, its busiest three months of 2026, according to its quarterly trading update. The quarter brought firm-wide deployment to €3.4 billion for the first nine months.
Add-on loans to existing borrowers accounted for about 45% of direct lending deployment in the first nine months, the update says. Tikehau described the credit environment as more selective.
Add-on loans are priced and documented on terms set for the original credit, so the 45% slice grows without a fresh underwriting test. A manager leaning on them can keep deployment up while origination of new names slows. That makes the split worth more attention than the headline €943 million in a year when firms describe lending conditions as selective.
Tikehau returned €2.2 billion to investors in the first nine months, including €1.1 billion in the third quarter. Net new money in the quarter was €459 million, of which €215 million went to private credit, down from €715 million in the same period of 2025. Firm-wide, the €1.1 billion returned was more than double the €459 million of net new money taken in.
Assets under management stood at €51.7 billion at the end of September. Co-founders Antoine Flamarion and Mathieu Chabran cited "the full liquidation of our third direct lending vintage" among outcomes; the update does not give the vintage's size or realised return.
A CLO reset and a €450 million print
European CLO XVI, upsized to €450 million, was priced in early October, following an €80 million reset of Tikehau's sixth European CLO in the third quarter.
Tikehau said heightened market volatility had created a growing set of opportunities at attractive entry points and more favourable valuations. It expects further deployment in the fourth quarter from its special opportunities strategy.
